Will FaceBooks New Algorithm change hurt businesses in 2018? The short quick answer is yes it will. Well at least it will hurt the companies that are not properly building out their facebook pages, and solely depend on facebooks ads, and not creating quality content to reach new and current customers.

This announcement from Zucks, shook the marketing world. This change has the potential to effect the reach that ads, and other sale style posts will have for business . The main point of this change is to promote / encourage more conversations between friends & family. Facebook is trying to slow down the reach of business in 2018.

The news Feeds, Facebook wants their users to have more meaningfull discussions on their platform. The goal of facebook is to bring high quality content that people truly care about infront of their readers . In previous years Facebook algorithm was mainly focused on content that entertains and informs their readers. ( Great for business marketing purposes) This goal is going away in 2018 and will flip the marketing world upside down. Facebook will be going back to putting people and family’s first. Facebook pledges to promote content that inspires meaningful discussion between friends and family.

Plane and simple lazy businesses who are marketing their services poorly. Its about communicating and bringing value content that people want and care about. The Businesses and companies who are solely posting salesy style posts and are solely focused on click thru rates, and sales are going to be very upset with this new change.
How can we prepare for this change as marketers and business owners ?
Easy and simply by focusing on true engaging content that your readers/followers/and fans want. Take a page out of gary vees book, Jab.Jab,Jab, Right Hook – put your fans first, focus on quality content above all else, when this technique is done correctly then the sales will start to come in.
As marketers we need to focus on branding not selling, the companies that do great at branding in 2018 will win the sales war in 2018.
